Kenton Cool Marks Record 20th Mount Everest Summit

British mountaineer Kenton Cool arrives in Kathmandu, Nepal, after successfully summiting Mount Everest for the 20th time, setting a record for the most ascents by a foreign climber, in May 2026. The 53-year-old climber from Gloucestershire, southwest England, reached the world's highest peak on Friday alongside veteran Sherpa climber Dorji Gyaljen, who completed his 24th Everest ascent. Cool, who first climbed Everest in 2004, is regarded as one of the most accomplished foreign mountaineers in the Himalayas and previously became the first British climber to summit Mount Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse in a single season in 2013.
