The Muslim Community In Mexico Celebrates Eid Al-Adha

Members of the Muslim community pray and break their fast in a park to celebrate Eid al-Adha in Mexico City, Mexico, on May 28, 2026. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is a significant Islamic holiday. According to tradition, it commemorates the event when God appeared in a dream to Abraham, known as Ibrahim to Muslims, and asked him to sacrifice his son to demonstrate his faithfulness. The Quran, the holy book of Islam, narrates that just as Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, God substituted a lamb for Ismail, which was sacrificed in his place.
