International Sex Workers' Day In Mexico

Sex worker collectives march from the Angel of Independence to the Monument to Palestine in Mexico City, Mexico, on June 2, 2026. The participants demand an end to the criminalization, discrimination, and violence against those engaged in sex work. International Sex Workers' Day commemorates a protest by more than 150 sex workers at the Church of Saint-Nizier in Lyon, France, on June 2, 1975, to address police abuses, according to the National School of Social Work at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). The term ''sex worker'' is used to focus on the working conditions under which sexual services are offered. (Photo by Gerardo Vieyra/NurPhoto)
