ENDANGERED SUMATERAN TIGER NEWLY BORN

A mother Sumatran tiger plays with her four one-month-old cubs at Taman Safari Indonesia in Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia, on June 4, 2026. The Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is critically endangered, with an estimated population of fewer than 400 to 600 in the wild on Sumatra Island. This species is the only surviving tiger subspecies in Indonesia, following the extinction of the Bali tiger and the Javan tiger. (Photo by Suryanto Putramudji/NurPhoto)
