Life under shelling in frontline Kherson
A billboard reading "Jesus is risen – Ukraine will rise again" stands on a street in the frontline city of Kherson, Ukraine, on June 2, 2026. The city experiences daily military operations involving FPV drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles. Russian forces conduct operations involving FPV drones, which are used to track and drop explosives. Police officers, medics, public transport, and urban infrastructure are affected. Kherson is informally divided into "yellow" and "red" zones, with the "red" zone considered the most dangerous due to frequent shelling and drone activity. Anti-drone netting has been installed above roads to help protect against drone operations. (Photo by Dmytro Smolienko/Ukrinform/NurPhoto)
