India Curbs Bulk Fuel Buying At Retail Pumps, Caps Diesel Sales

India has restricted industrial, commercial, and institutional fuel consumers from purchasing gasoline and diesel from retail fuel stations and has capped daily diesel purchases to prevent local shortages amid disruptions to global supply chains caused by the conflict in the Middle East. Retail fuel station dealers are directed to sell no more than 200 liters of diesel per customer or vehicle per day, according to a government order issued late on Thursday. The order also prohibits buyers from reselling the fuel. India, the world's third-largest importer and consumer of oil, is among the last major economies to raise retail fuel prices following disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz amid the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
