United States And Iran Reach Peace Deal, Strait Of Hormuz Set To Reopen, Says President Donald Trump

A man walks past a billboard featuring the portraits of (right to left) Iran's new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on June 15, 2026. United States President Donald Trump announces a ceasefire deal with Iran, allowing toll-free shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The agreement, confirmed by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, is expected to end hostilities between Iran and the United States. Lebanon remains a point of contention, with Israel and Hezbollah continuing their conflict despite calls for a halt. The funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, is scheduled to begin in Tehran on July 4, with burial in Mashhad on July 9, following ceremonies in Tehran and Qom.
