River erosion in Bangladesh

A man looks on the river where many villager lost their home land in Dohar outskirts of Bangladesh capital due to river erosion on August 12, 2016. At least 300 families in Dohar, Srinagor, Lohajang upzila have been lost their houses, mosque to the Padma River this year due to erosion. Heavy monsoon rain and water from upstream are causing the erosion. Every year in Bangladesh, many people lost their own homeland, house, crop fields as the river erosion. A 2013 study by the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit at the University of Dhaka and the UK-based Sussex Centre for Migration Research estimated that riverbank erosion displaces 50,000 to 200,000 people in Bangladesh every year.
