Mangoes Continue To Flock Nepali Market As Season Kicks In

Consumers purchase mangoes from a local fruit market in Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 18, 2026, as the mango season begins, attracting thousands. From roadside stalls in the Tarai to fruit shops in the Kathmandu Valley, mangoes are starting to fill baskets, marking the peak of the fruit season. The Southern plains of Nepal are the primary region for mango production in the country. According to statistics, out of the 42,773 hectares of land where mangoes are planted nationwide, 29,099 hectares are utilized in Madhesh Province, or the Southern plains. Approximately 77 percent of the country's total mango production comes from Madhesh Province. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
