Heatwave Pushes Nepali To Go In Search For Measures To Keep Cool

Nepali children play in a puddle on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 18, 2026, to keep cool as temperatures rise across the nation. The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology states that Nepal is experiencing a partial influence from a western low-pressure line in the upper atmosphere, alongside local and easterly winds. According to the Division, the country's mountainous and hilly regions are affected, while the southern plains experience high temperatures. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
