Relatives Form Human Chain To Demand The Return Of Kidnapped Fishermen

Family members form a human chain in front of the National Museum at Shahbagh, demanding the release of fishermen reportedly abducted by the Myanmar-based armed group Arakan Army from the Bay of Bengal and the Naf River near Teknaf and Saint Martin's Island in Cox's Bazar, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on June 21, 2026. Relatives express concern for the missing fishermen, who are the sole earners for their families. Children hold photographs of their fathers during the demonstration. Over the past two years, at least 500 Bangladeshi fishermen have reportedly been abducted by the group. While some have been released, nearly 200 fishermen are still believed to be in captivity.
