Janai Purnima Festival At Lalitpur, Nepal

Janai Purnima, also known as the festival of threads, is one of the most religiously significant celebrations of Nepal. During the festival, people have the "Rakshya Bandhan" thread tied around the wrist. The yellow thread is purified by the chanting of Mantras by Brahmins as a symbol of protection from fear and disease.
