Wildfire In Northern Catalonia, Southern France

Firefighters work to contain a major wildfire near Trevillach, in the Pyrenees-Orientales department of Northern Catalonia, southern France, on July 6-7, 2026. The fire has burned nearly 5,000 hectares of vegetation, fueled by strong tramontane winds, high temperatures, and prolonged drought conditions. Hundreds of firefighters, supported by aerial resources from France and other European countries, focus on protecting populated areas and securing the fire perimeter. The emergency has led to the evacuation of dozens of communities and thousands of residents. (Photo by Albert Llop/NurPhoto)
