Poland Commemorates 83rd Anniversary Of Volhynia Genocide
RZESZOW, POLAND - JULY 11: Volhynia massacre survivor Miroslaw Rucinski (born 1938, originally from Ostrog near Luck) speaks into a microphone during the final part of a solemn commemoration ceremony outside the Home Army (AK) Monument on July 11, 2026, in Rzeszow, Poland. Rucinski, who as a five-year-old child witnessed the brutal murder of his father and other family members, shared his testimony at the event organized by nationalist groups including Oboz Narodowo-Radykalny (ONR). Despite his family tragedy, Rucinski actively helped numerous Ukrainian refugees arriving in Rzeszow following the outbreak of the 2022 Russia-Ukraine war. The march marks the 83rd anniversary of Bloody Sunday to honor over 100,000 Polish civilians tortured and murdered by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN-B) across Volhynia and Eastern Galicia between 1943 and 1947.
