HSC Examinees Protest In Dhaka Demanding Education Minister's Resignation Over Flood-Hit Exams

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinees block the Science Laboratory intersection in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on July 14, 2026, during a protest demanding the resignation of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon. The protest is over the continuation of public examinations despite severe flooding across parts of the country. Demonstrators claim that many candidates from flood-affected districts had to travel through knee-deep or waist-deep water, with some reaching examination centers by boat. Protesters also call for the postponement of the remaining examinations until the flood situation improves and request a re-examination for students unable to attend the July 13 examination due to adverse weather conditions. The road blockade causes significant traffic disruption in one of the capital's busiest areas. Similar demonstrations take place in Uttara. (Photo by Sony Ramani/NurPhoto)
