The Rath Yatra, a Hindu festival of chariots, is celebrated in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on July 16, 2026. In the village, part of the 400-year-old Krishna Rai Ratha Yatra tradition, the deity Krishna, known locally as Krishna Rai, is carried out of the temple in a decorated chariot during a procession. Devotees line up in front of the chariot to pull the ropes and perform dances. Electric wires on the road occasionally get caught on the chariot, and the head priest moves them with his bare hand.
