A green jewel bug (Chrysocoris stollii), also known as the lychee shield bug, rests on green leaves in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on July 26, 2026. The insect, which belongs to the family Scutelleridae, features a shiny, metallic green shell with black spots and an enlarged thorax that covers its wings and abdomen. It feeds on plant juices using piercing-sucking mouthparts on crops such as litchi, longan, pigeon pea, and millets, as well as on weeds like Cassia occidentalis.
