Two Held In Baramulla Kashmir For Alleged Gang Rape, Filming Assault

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Gurinderpal Singh, addresses a press conference at District Police lines in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Police have arrested two men in north Kashmir's Baramulla district for allegedly gang raping a young woman, filming the assault and subsequently showing the video to others, officials said on Tuesday. Addressing the press conference, SSP Gurinderpal Singh said the case came to light after the survivor approached Police Station Baramulla on July 25 and reported the alleged assault. According to the SSP, the woman told police that she and a male friend had gone on an outing to Jalsheeri Drangbal when they were confronted by two men. The accused allegedly harassed the pair, assaulted them and sexually assaulted the woman before recording the incident on video. Police said the accused later showed the footage to other people.
