Daily life in Bangladesh
Shariyakandi a Upazila of Bogra, located beside of the Jamuna; is one of the largest rivers of Bangladesh. Every year, flood and river erosion are commonly seen there. The Jamuna is a braided river with bank materials that are highly susceptible to erosion. Since the Brahmaputra switched to the course of the jamuna, the average width of the river has fluctuated substantially. Erosion by Jamuna river has made over 7,000 people destitute in Bogra, said local sources but gave no official figure. After the water level goes down, the number of several thousands homeless people are migrating to the other island to have suitable place for living. Bangladesh, on 5 September 2016.
