The Madureira Park in Rio de Janeiro

Young Brasilians roller skate on the Madureira Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 10 September, 2016. It holds the world’s largest public half pipe skate park, designed by X Games World Champion Bob Burnquist, the Brazilian skater with the largest winning record in the sport. The park combines recreation, entertainment, sport and music. The half pipe structure is made of metal and special wood. Its dimensions are impressive: 18.7 meters wide, 25 meters long and 5.70 meters high. It also has different levels, allowing for varied speeds. The whole facility is covered by a structure with 3.500 m², having attached to it a communal area with enough space to have bleachers set up during competitions. In external area there is a complex for beginner skaters with 1.000 m². The Madureira Park is one of the largest recreational areas of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The use of the facilities is free and the site is maintained by the Rio City Hall (Photo by Luiz Souza/NurPhoto)
