World Food Day - Street food in Dhaka

A vendor sell food on street in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on October 15, 2016. Most of time food are being prepared with unhygienic handling. And those food are being sold in open air in a dirty city, which carry many germs. Unhygienic food items that are being sold on the streets of the capital are exposing the consumers to serious health hazards. Thousands of people are taking these foods everyday attracted by their cheap price and fine taste, not knowing what a great danger they are inviting for themselves by eating them. Some 600 million people fall ill each year from eating contaminated food, and 420,000 die, including 125,000 children, the World Health Organization said. These contaminants usually only cause temporary symptoms, such as nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, however, they can also cause longer-term illnesses including cancer, kidney or liver failure, brain disorders, epilepsy and arthritis, WHO said.
