Indonesian Police Declared Jakarta Governor as ‘Suspect’ in Blasphemy Case

The head of the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department, Comr. Gen. Ari Dono, announced the results of investigation regarding Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama alleged blasphemy in Indonesian National Police Headquater, in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 16, 2016. Police set Ahok as a suspect and increase the case to court. President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo order came following a large-scale demonstration on November 04 in Jakarta, in which more than 200,000 people staged a rally, demanding the immediate arrest of Ahok on allegations of blasphemy.
