Protest of workers ends in police violence in Rio de Janeiro

Food was collected among the protesters to be donated to workers who are not receiving wages. Civil servants protest outside the Legislative Assembly in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016. Police in Rio de Janeiro clashed with protesters for the second time in a week as representatives began discussing a sweeping austerity package to shore up state finances. The austerity measures are in voting in Alerj and can be approved in the next days. At least 15 people were injured with rubber bullets, tear gas bombs, morale bombs and water jets. Demonstrators overturned the railing that surrounded Alerj (Rio de Janeiro State Parliament) and attempted to invade the historic building, where congressmen debated austerity measures.
