Rio Olympic Place May Become Mosquito Breeder
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, November 22, 2016: The mirror of water that is below the place where the sculpture of the Olympic Torch that was used during the Olympics of the Rio is with water without treatment. This site can be transformed into a breeding ground for the mosquito Aedes Aegypti, a dengue, zika virus and chikungunya transmitter. The water, which during the Olympics was treated and crystalline, now has greenish tones and may soon favor the proliferation of mosquitoes, putting at risk the health of the population and the tourists who continue visiting the place.
