Refugee camp under heavy snowfall in Greece
View of Petra refugee camp, located on the feet of Olympus mountain in northern Greece near the village Petra, Greece, on 3 December 2016. After the weather deteriorated in Greece there was snowfall around Greece and the temperature dropped below 0°C. It is a camp that hosted 450 Yazidi refugees from Iraq.The location is on Olympus mountain, the highest in Greece. The refugees were facing extreme hardship as blizzards hit region. During the summer to children died here, by getting drowned in a water reservoir as they went to play. The infrastructure is a former psychiatric clinic. Nowadays after they the very bad conditions and the media pressure the government moved them to state owned facilites like thermal bath hotels or rent temporary some hotel rooms in nearby cities.
