A jockey spurs the cows during Pacu Jawi at Tabek village, Pariangan district on August 14, 2016 in Tanah Datar, Indonesia. Pacu Jawi (traditional cow racing) is held annually in muddy rice fields to celebrate the end of the harvest season by the Sumatrans people in Tanah Datar regency. Jockeys grab the tails of the bulls and skate across the mud barefoot balancing on a wooden plank to show the strength of their bulls who are later auctioned to buyers. This event has been around for hundreds of years and was originally an activity undertaken by the farmers after harvest season for leisure as well as a means of entertainment for local people and thanksgiving ritual before start planting season. Nowadays, this Pacu Jawi attracts both local and international tourists to come (Photo by Robertus Pudyanto/NurPhoto)
