The ruins of the ancient city of Babylon, 59 miles (94 kilometres) southwest of Baghdad, Iraq on 20 December 2016. Founded 2,300 BC, capital of the Babylonian empire 1700 BC ruled by Hammurabi and again in 600 BC ruled by Nebuchadnezzar II and home of the famous statue, the Lion of Babylon.
