Protest against conditional law

The government of Bangladesh is presently contemplating a move that would permit girls to marry at 16 with parental consent and/or approval from courts. If the law is passed, it would mark the first occasion that the legal age of marriage has been lowered in the Indian subcontinent since the "Child Marriage Restraint Act" came into effect in 1929. If the government includes the provision, it will be misused and the number of child marriage will increase a lot across the country, especially in the rural, char and slum areas, they told the programme at the capital's Brac Centre.
