First Ethnographic Encounter
Devils from different parts of the country took to the streets of Quito's historic center disguised as devils. Accompanied by bands of music carried out this parade with the aim of spreading the intangible heritage of the country from a cultural and anthropological perspective. The most characteristic personages of the popular festivals are: the devil, who was represented by different localities like Píllaro, Riobamba or Alangasí. La Diablada Pillareña that is part of the cultural heritage of Ecuador, was present in the parade to the rhythm of Sanjuanitos, saltashpas, tunes and pasacalles. The devils danced along with the line couples and guarichas. The Lines: Men and women who use formal clothes representing the upper class of the time. They wear a white handkerchief and dance in pairs. Guarichas: Men or women wearing white dress, hat, hat and a wrist in their arms.
