Women in the Spanish coal mine. The struggle for survival
The struggle for survival of the women in the Spanish coal mine in Asturia, Spain, on 13 February 2017. When a worker dies in a Asturian mine, (north of Spain), absolute priority is given to the hiring of one of his sons or sons-in-law, to avoid an economic drama in families that generally only have the father's source of income. Twenty years ago it was key in the history of mining and the conquest of rights by women. That winter day of two decades ago, mining women entered for the first time in the darkness of a well.
