Horse Easter in the Bulgarian village

The day of Saint Martyr Theodore of Tyron was celebrated in Bulgaria on March 4th, the first Saturday of the Orthodox Church's Lent. Traditionally, Bulgarians not only hold special festive services in honor of the saint, but organize horse races and competitions for the most beautiful and strong horse, as St. Theodore was a horseback warrior. This day is often known as “Horse Easter”. (Photo by Hristo Vladev/NurPhoto)
