Brazilian Post Offices Face Historical Crisis

The Brazilian Postal and Telegraph Company (ECT), which is operated by the government and has a monopoly on mail service to Brazilians, and also operates delivery services nationwide, is facing one of the worst financial crises in its history. In 2016 losses are estimated at more than 2 billion BRL. The problem in finance is impacting the quality of the services provided by the company. Many Brazilian consumers pay for home delivery services, but need to pick up their mailings and deliveries at Post Offices or at Delivery Distribution Centers.
