Balinese Tradition for Prosperity in the Saka New Year 1939

The day after the Bali Silent day, people in Kedonganan Village, Bali, Indonesia, held a mud war tradition in a mangrove area there, named 'Mabuug-buugan', Wednesday, March 29th, 2017. The ritual comes from Balinese word ‘buug’ which means land or mud. They believe after they have done self-reflection in the day of silence, mud as a symbol of mother earth could give them prosperity in the Saka New Year 1939. (Photo by Keyza Widiatmika/NurPhoto)
