May Day Protesters Clash With Police In Paris

Pierre Laurent, general secretary of the PCF (Comunist Frech Party) ,during the 1st of May marches in Paris on May, 1th, 2017. Framed between the first and second rounds for the 2017 French elections, French unions (CFDT and UGT) did not march together in this traditional workers day in Paris which brings together thousands people in the streets every year. The discontent and uncertainty for the 23 Aprils results and the upcoming elections on the 7th May resulted in a more than usual violent protest with several police officers and protesters injured as well as public spaces damaged or burned.
