Four LGBT youths remanded in Dhaka

Police on 20 May 2017 take four suspected members of LGBT community in Dhaka. A Dhaka court on Saturday placed four suspected members of LGBT (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) community on a two-day remand each in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act. Those remanded are Sirajul Islam, Arafat Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, and Mehedi Hasan. Dhaka senior judicial magistrate Fairuz Tasmim passed the order after sub-inspector of Keraniganj Model Police Station SM Mehedi Hasan produced 28 'LGBT' youths before the court seeking a 10-day remand for 16 of them. Besides, the court ordered police to interrogate 12 others at jail gate. The court also rejected the bail petitions of all and sent 12 others to jail.
