Caen Daily Life

A view of a gigantic scaffolding 76 meters high was erected around the spire of the church of Saint-Pierre, in the heart of Caen. The restoration-cleaning project will last three years. The spire was destroyed on the 9th July 1944, by a single 16 Inch shell, one of a fifteen-round salvo from the Royal Navy battleship HMS Rodney aimed at the 12th SS Panzer Division and has been refurbished in 1957. On Thursday, June 8, 2017, in Caen, Calvados, France. (Photo by Artur Widak/NurPhoto)
