Brazilian trade unionists protest
Brazilian trade unionists protest at the Se square in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 20 June 2017. Trade Unions prepare the general stike called for the next 30 June 2017 against President Michel Temer's reforms. The government suffered a defeat yesterday in the Federal Senate and failed to approve one of the most important projects of the current economic agenda. By one vote of difference, the labor reform was rejected by the Social Affairs Commission (CAS): ten senators opposed the opinion of the rapporteur, Ricardo Ferraço (PSDB-ES), and nine voted in favor. It was the first stumble since the resurgence of the political crisis, caused by the denunciation of businessman Joesley Batista of JBS, who put President Michel Temer on suspicion of corruption and obstruction of justice.
