Ramadan 2017 - India
An elderly lady is uttering the name of god by counting each part of a wreath what is regarded as a sacred part in their community, at Nakhada Masjid. On 23 June 2017 in Kolkata, India. Muslims believe that the prophet Mohammed received revelations from God during the holy month of Ramadan which made up their holy guide Koran. Muslims read as much of Koran as they can during this month. Often Muslims donate money to charity during Ramadan and help to feed the hungry. Dedicated Muslims practice fasting from dawn to dusk but are able to enjoy feasts in the evening. The Eid celebration marks the end of the Ramadan fasting.
