Military intervention in Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 28, 2017: After levels of violence reach alarming levels, the Federal Government of Brazil authorizes military intervention in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Initially, more than 10,000 military personnel were made available to assist in the patrolling of the city of Rio de Janeiro and metropolitan cities. The decree of President Michel Temer was made after requests from the government of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
