Tour of the Great Khan Temporary Palace
A view from the inside of the Great Khan Temporary Palace. The Palace covers an area of 300,000 m2 with an elevation of 1,418 metres. According to historical records, the vast land was once the strategic military area of the Great conqueror Genghis Khan. In 1215, he camped here during the military operation against Jin Army. The Palace consist of Gongmen (imperial gate), Chongtianmen (gate honoring the heaven), Junzhang (tents for generals), Jinzhang (Khan tent), Qinzhang (sleeping tents), Obo (Mongolian cairn), Jitiantai (Heaven worship platform) and demonstrates the military and political culture and religious beliefs of Mongolians of Yuan Dynasty.
