Spring started officially on September 22, at 17:02 (from Brasilia) and goes until December 21, at 2:28 pm (Brazilian summer time). For most areas of Brazil, the most important feature of the season is the increase of humidity and the return of rain on the country. Spring rainfall is fundamental to enable the renewal of pastures, ensure the good development of the summer grain crop, and also initiate the recomposition of the water volume of the rivers and reservoirs to supply the populations and for the generation of energy. The expectation by the spring rain this year is even greater in the face of the intense heat and dryness of the last weeks of winter.
