First day that fishermen will be allowed by Israel to travel up to nine nautical miles
Palestinian fishermen set off for the sea in Gaza City on October 19, 2017 on the first day that fishermen will be allowed by Israel to travel up to nine nautical miles. Israeli officials have announced they will temporarily expand the fishing area for Palestinians off a sector of the blockaded Gaza Strip. Around 4,000 fishermen work in Gaza, more than half of whom live below the poverty line. Israel has imposed a blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip for a decade, while Egypt has also largely closed its border with the isolated enclave. (Photo by Majdi Fathi/NurPhoto)
