Ultra religious Christian protest in Thessaloniki

Ultra religious Christian fanatics protest Pessoa’s play “The Hour of the Devil” in Thessaloniki, Greece on 20 October 2017. Its the third day in a row were the ultra orthodox group protests outside Aristoteleion theater against the performance of the play “The Hour of the Devil” by the Portuguese author Fernando Pessoa. Previously there were some fights during the protest and the police presence was strong. The religious fanatics and nationalists claimed the play is a “blasphemy” against Orthodoxy. They were holding flags with written "Orthodoxy or Death", crosses and icons. They chanted religious and the national hymn. Among with them was "Father" Kleomenis, a self-proclaimed “Father”, who called the play “blasphemy.” Kleomenis gained publicity a couple of months ago when he vandalized the Holocaust Memorial in Larissa. The Greek Church distanced from him saying he was not a priest, the prosecutor filed charges against the hate-preacher. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
