Dog Therapy In Sao Paulo

The Hospital Infantil Sabará located in the neighborhood of Higienópolis in São Paulo receives the visit of the dog therapist, on October 26, 2017. Today, Apolo, a 5-year-old labrador made the children of the children hospitalized. The visits of the dog therapist last in average 60 minutes, because the dog gets very tired with so many interactions of the hospitalized children.Dogs provide moments of joy and relaxation to patients. As a consequence, children become more motivated, well-humored and perceive improvements in treatment reception, socialization and integration with the medical staff. Pets participating in voluntary work thus need to be vaccinated and wormed. In addition, animals should have a docile, affectionate and acknowledged affection for people, so that contact between them and patients is possible. (Photo by Cris Faga/NurPhoto)
