Trisomy 21

A 60 year old man with Down Syndrome. Trisomy 21 or commonly known as Down Syndrome is a genetic abnormality in which a child is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21. Individuals with Down Syndrome have a characteristic range of physical features and intellectual disabilities. Some of this physical features are reduced muscle tone, eyes that slant upwards and outwards, their palm may have only one crease across it, a below average weight and length at birth. This project was created in the facilities of the Hellenic Down Syndrome Association in Thessaloniki. The HDSA established in 1990 is a place where people with down syndrome receive education programs, learn to exploit all their creative abilities, and participate through special programs in sport and social activities.
