Police is blocking migrants trying to march towards the Greek-FYROM borders
About 300 refugees and migrants tried to march to the Greek-FYROM borders and the area of Idomeni on 16 November 2017. The asylum-seekers tried to get to the borders to follow the Balkan route and get to the European countries. Some of them demanded to reunite with their families that are already settled in North-West European countries. The march was organized through social media among the refugees with the support of solidarity-leftists group. A group of migrants arrived also from Athens. Police blocked them before the train station in the city center and offered them hospitality to camps to pass the night. The marchers after police's denial to continue their walk, sat down and protested for a while. Most of the people were from Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Palestine and African countries. Just before midnight, refugees abandoned their mission and returned to their homes. A few of them stayed during the night in Aristotle square. (Photo by Nicolas Economou/NurPhoto)
