Halong Bay in Northern Vietnam

Cruising in the famous Halong Bay in Northern Vietnam. The meaning of the name is the Descending Dragon Bay. Halong Bay is an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994. There are about 2000 islets, some of them with caves, as the area is a zone of thousands of limestone karsts and amazing rock pillar formations. There have been found evidences of prehistoric human presence in the area. Nowadays a few traditional floating fishing village remain in the area as it transforms to a popular tourist destination.A few local vendors approach the touristic cruise ships with their traditional boat.
