Thousands of women march in a protest of a new abortion law proposal in Warsaw, Poland on January 17, 2018. The new proposal would ban the abortion of fetuses with a birth defect. Poland currently has the most prohibitive abortion laws in Europe, it is estimated that over 10 thousand abortions take place illegally every year. The Polish parliament in which the conservative Law and Justice party has had a majority since 2015 recently rejected a bill which would advocate greater access to abortion, offer free contraception and sex education in schools.
