Shopping Mall Culture

Since the 1990s when economic liberation policy was initiated in India there have many changes in the society. One such change is reflected in the burgeoning number of shopping malls in urban areas that cater to the new middle-class population driven by consumerist culture. One can see people swarming in these shopping centers that offer both Indian and foreign brands as well as comfortable space for spending some leisurely hours. Photo: Subhendu Sarkar/NurPhoto
