International Yoga Day 2018 Celebrated In Kashmir

Kashmiri students perform Yoga exercise in their camp on June 21, 2018, in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir, India. Yoga, which means union in Sanskrit is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Many studies have tried to determine the effectiveness of yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, schizophrenia, asthma, and heart disease. Yoga gained prominence in the west in the 20th century and became popular as a system of physical exercise across the Western world. On December 1, 2016, yoga was listed by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an Intangible cultural heritage. The United Nations (UN) has declared 21 June as the International Yoga Day after adopting a resolution proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. (Photo by Kabli Yawar/ NurPhoto)
